Preferences versus Convictions: Understanding the Difference Because unity in the Body of Christ is of utmost importance, we must be careful not to confuse preferences and convictions. A preference is "a personal desire for something; a wish or desire for something we would prefer over something else." A conviction (from a Christian perspective) though, is something that is deeply rooted in biblical principle and therefore non-negotiable. (11/30/2011, Neil Silverberg, Senior Pastor)
